These programs are run by the school and are not directly under the PTA umbrella.

Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC): This committee functions in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education, and deals with such issues as new school construction, safety, transportation, redistricting, and other educational areas of concern to the community.  Volunteer to be an active participant in decisions affecting your children’s school experience.

Health and Wellness Programs (School Nurse):  Assist with health, wellness and screening programs as directed by the school nurse.

Terrapin Troop Student Community Service Club:  This after-school club allows students to actively provide community service to a wide variety of local and larger groups.  Past projects have included care packages and Valentines for military troops, pet toys and supplies for the SPCA, and holiday cards for the seniors next door to our school.  Emphasis is on the students actually making or doing something themselves, not just collecting donations.  A caregiver must attend with K-2nd grade participants.  Volunteer to coordinate an age-appropriate project with a charity organization you select, which entails scheduling a club meeting on a date of your choice for the project, communicating project requirements to club families, obtaining supplies, and soliciting and transporting any donations collected (not all projects involve donations).
