Valerie Holland PTA President | MidYear Business Hello Families - Thank you to all the parents who generously donated toward Arnold's Field Trip Bus fund. We raised $2975 to date which allowed us to help offset field trip costs to the kindergarten, second, third and fourth grades. We still have a way to go and could still use your support. Every donation helps! 2010/2011 Board positions available: PTA President PTA Treasurer Membership Chair Persons Amanda Tosoni and I have reached the end of our two year tenure and the torch is ready to be passed to the next leaders at Arnold. Please reach out to Wendy Bright to express interest and to schedule transition training prior to June 4, 2010. As a reminder our PTA requires a PTA President and Treasurer in order to operate in 2010/2011. |
State Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick Grants AACPS' Request for 5 day waiver of school year for students. Last day of school for students currently scheduled for for June 15.
State school Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick has granted Anne Arundel County Public Schools’ request for a five-day calendar waiver for students, providing relief that will allow the school year for students to end on June 15 provided there are no more emergency closings.
AACPS built four emergency closing days into the 2009-2010 calendar, but used 10 because of inclement weather from mid-December through mid-February. In granting the request, Dr. Grasmick cited the system’s previously announced addition of one day to the end of the school year and its intention to “concentrate instructional time to make up for the lost school days.”
On February 23, the Maryland State Board of Education gave Dr. Grasmick authority to grant waivers of up to five days for school systems on a case-by-case basis. Read More

Mrs. Bennaman brought in a clothing rack and hung up all of our lost and found items. Thanks-a-latte! - Tami Galloway I am so thankful for how much Ellen Lunay has done for Mrs. Curry's class, especially with the Guest Artist program. It is hard to believe that this is Ellen's first year at Arnold Elementary. Thank you for all of your hard work. Thanks-a-latte! - Mary Thompson Tammy Hartman has been invaluable to me and the Enrichment Committee over the past year. For both the Fall and Winter sessions of enrichment she has helped make the process run smoothly and kept me organized. She is involved in so many other things, yet she finds the time to help when asked and she gives it 110%. The Enrichment program has greatly appreciated her time and effort...Thanks bunches. Thanks-a-latte! - Tiffany Dean Melanie Price always seems to be there and be ready to take on anything that needs to be done...from the yearbook to shoveling snow. I have been involved in many of the projects that she has coordinated, she has great spirit and energy...which we all know is necessary to handle some of this stuff. Strong programs like the Arnold PTA don't exist without people like Melanie. Thanks for everything you do! Thanks-a-latte! - Karen Cassidy Thanks to Ms. Wendi Savage for cleaning the copy room at Arnold Elementary. Thanks-a-latte! - Tami Galloway
