Hello Families - This is the last newsletter of the year and as the school year begins to wind down I would like to take a moment to thank each of you that helped to make 2009-2010 a successful school year for the faculty and students at Arnold Elementary School. Because of your support Arnold families donated 3,863 volunteer hours at Arnold. Your commitment to supporting our programs and your direct donations allowed PTA the ability to offer a variety of school assemblies for all grade levels like Jali D, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble and Monumental brass works via the PTA Cultural Arts program. Our PTA Enrichment Committee offered students courses in Art, Dance, Cooking, Scrapbooking, Hands on Science, Nature, Legos, Games, Reading Clubs, Yoga and more. PTA stood behind our commitment to support technology and provided our students with ten document cameras, seven smart boards and three LCD projectors to ensure that every grade has access to leading technology inside the classroom. In Feb/March PTA turned to you for support to help supplement field trips costs for buses and together we raised $3,915 which allowed us to offset costs in all six grade levels this year. In short, we have all worked hard to give our students the support and tools they need to be the best they can be! JUNE 8th is Field day and PTA is a proud sponsor of this event in support of the “Let’s Move” Healthier School initiative. Arnold Elementary PE Department/Mrs. Bounelis received a $500 PTA grant to obtain Field Day sports equipment for the students. PTA fully supports school programs that promote physical activity, wellness, nutrition and healthy eating for students. Students can show support and get in the school spirit by ordering a Field Day T-Shirt in team colors lime green, orange or yellow now through June 7th. The cost is $7.00 per shirt. Each classroom teacher has the appropriate size and color for each team. Please make checks payable to Arnold PTA and send in money to your child’s teacher. Parents/Guardians can also get a Field Day shirt for $7.00. Adult shirts in sizes S, M. L, and XL are available in the school office while supplies last. The PTA is fortunate to work with Mrs. Biggart, the faculty and staff at Arnold Elementary School and we support each other as we all strive toward excellence in education for the students. CONGRATULATIONS to our fifth graders who are preparing for graduation and we send good wishes as they transition to middle school! Parents, thank you again for helping to make 2009-2010 a successful school year. Please continue to be involved at Arnold next year as there are many ways to serve both the students and the faculty, all which allows us to have a school that we can be proud of. Lastly, please join me in thanking this year’s Executive PTA Board and committee chairs for all of the countless hours they have given to our students. Without them, we could not provide the many PTA programs and services we offer our students. Have a safe summer! Val
