Our PTA sponsors a lot of valuable programs throughout the school year.  PTA Program descriptions are available below.  If you are interested in volunteering please signup at our Volunteer Registrations page.

Contact your volunteer chair for more information, their contact info can be found at Arnold Elementary Volunteers page.

Book Fair: The PTA hosts the Scholastic Book Fair, which provides our school library and classrooms with “credits” toward free books. The Book Fair offers the opportunity to buy books, posters, software, and other items for all occasions, and for your students' personal libraries. Volunteer to help setting up books for children to preview before the sale, and selling books during the fair. Book Fairs are held each fall (Oct 19-23, 2009) and spring (May 2010).

Box Tops: Clip 10¢ Box Tops coupons from hundreds of your favorite products such as Cheerios®, Betty Crocker®, Juicy Juice®, Ziploc®, Kleenex®, Hefty® and more! Help the cut, count or send Box Tops to Box Tops for Education. (Last year our school earned $1,000., just 10 cents at a time.)

Campbell's Labels for Education Program: Campbell's Labels for Education is a program that helps schools obtain free educational merchandise in exchange for proofs of purchase collected from eligible Campbell brands. School's will redeem them for FREE merchandise. Products eligible for redemption through the Labels for Education program include Campbell's® soups, Spaghetti-Os® pasta, Pepperidge Farm® products (including Goldfish® crackers), Swanson® broths, V-8® beverages and Prego® pasta sauce. We need help: Collecting the labels from the lobby bin, Sorting them according to point value on a monthly basis, Helping track classroom points for contest if approved, and Helping select merchandise with input from school personal.

Celebration Books: The celebration books program offers an opportunity for Arnold families to donate books directly to the Arnold Elementary School library. Each book donated by an Arnold family can be found in our library with a special celebration books label containing who donated the book and in what school year. Volunteers coordinate and order books donated by children in honor of their birthdays or special people.  Volunteers needed a few hours in May and the end of the year for presentation of books.

Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC): This committee functions in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education, dealing with such issues as new school construction, safety, transportation, redistricting, and other educational areas of concern to the community.

Cultural Arts: Assist with Assemblies and Artist in Residency programs, and the Cultural Arts Showcase event in September.

Dads Club: Arnold's Dads club aids in educating and encouraging dads to be the best fathers possible by being involved in the education of their children. Father's volunteer their time to help the school and students by hosting special events throughout the school year allowing us to spend quality time with our kids while raising donations that improve our kids schools and programs. There are opportunities for involvement of fathers to actively participate in bettering the education and environment of Arnold students.

Enrichment: The enrichment program at Arnold offers students a way to explore interests and discover hidden talents and abilities through the various enrichment courses we offer in the fall and spring. These courses will help stimulate thinking, enhance creativity, and encourage working in groups. We are happy to offer new possibilities, some which include nature exploration, Lego building, and foreign language to the students at Arnold. We are always looking for volunteers to run classes and help us come up with new ideas. The Fall Enrichment class will run October 1, 2009 - December 14, 2009 and Spring will run Feb 1st - 2nd week in April.

Fall Festival: Mark your calendar for October 24th! The Fall Fun Fair is an annual event filled with games, prizes, food, and fun! Volunteers are needed to solicit donations from area businesses, decorate, coordinate scheduling for cafeteria duty, organize activities, and staff food stations, games, and ticket sales. Volunteers are also needed from each class to participate in sales, running booths, set-up, decorating, clean up, etc.

Father/Daughter Dance: Every girl is a princess at the Father Daughter Dance! Help with planning, set-up, and cleanup for winter (Feb/March) dance.

Field Day: An exciting morning of fun activities for grades K-5. Parents are needed to monitor events and cheer on teams in this annual track and field day, led by the P.E. teacher in late May or early June. Be part of this action packed day!

Fifth Grade Picnic: Held on the last day of school. Help needed setting up, buying food, and running the traditional picnic for the “seniors” of our school. Fourth Parents are also needed to help this Promotion Day run smoothly.

Grandparents Day: During this special day, children invite a Grandparent or Grand Friend to spend the morning at school with them. Volunteers are needed to organizing programs for a day of grandparent/special friend visitation in the spring (close to Easter Break).

Giant/Safeway Coordinator: Did you know our school can earn money just by the shopping we do at our favorite stores? Volunteer to be the coordinator or a member of this committee. Help us track the money we are earning, and motivate others to join these easy programs. The Giant/Safeway coordinator can easily run this program from home by logging onto reports from home and make 1000’s of dollars for our school.

Holiday Breakfast: This is wonderful way to start the Holiday Arnold Elementary style. Help is needed in November to help with organization and December to decorate, serve food, and clean up. This is a day your children will always remember.

Holiday Secret Shop: Santa’s Secret Workshop event offers students the unique opportunity to "secretly" purchase and/or make small gifts for family members and friends. Volunteers are needed in the Fall to coordinate the gift sale with the vendor, assemble craft supplies, and staff gift sales, gift wrapping, and craft stations. Volunteers are also needed to help children with selections as they do their own shopping in December (5th graders and older siblings are welcome as volunteers).

Meet the Author: Did you ever wonder what it takes to write or illustrate a book. Every year we invite an author to come to school to talk to the students. Coordinate and help with gatherings among students and authors usually in April.

Membership: The Arnold Elementary PTA is one of the best bargains of the year; it does so much for the school and your children and only cost you $15. Our Arnold PTA donates many school and classroom supplies as well as coordinates outstanding programs for the students. Our 2009 – 2010 goal is 100% participation for all Arnold Elementary families. Join this committee to help with our membership drive.

Mother/Son Spring Fling: Help organize an after school event (i.e, bowling, skating) for Arnold Elementary moms and sons in the spring. A fun afternoon our sons won’t soon forget!

Room Parents: This is a very important and rewarding job! You are helping out your Homeroom teacher, and of course benefitting the students along the way. Usually two parent volunteers are needed per teacher to help coordinate classroom parties for Halloween and Valentine's Day. You will also be responsible for providing two gallon jugs of water for Field Day in June. There may be additional special requests from your teacher (i.e .a year end party or classroom activities) that the Room Parents can help with as well.

Restaurant Night Coordinator: Can you make a few phone calls and plan a dinner out for a few (hundred) of your closest friends? We can earn money by eating out at some of our local restaurants!! We need your help coordinating these fun filled nights. Coordinating a night takes about an hour of your time to make arrangements over the phone with a restaurant. It’s an easy way to make a big difference without leaving your house!

School Promotions & Spirit WearThe goal of the School Promotions Committee is generate excitement and school spirit by assisting school groups/committees by supplying them with finished Arnold  Elementary promotional supplies for sale, advertisement, display, or hand out. The School Promotions Committee works directly with  artists and with the PTA selected vendor, to produce inventory for its' groups. It also sources for small promotional items via the internet and local  companies.

Square One Art: A fundraiser that involves working with the Art teacher and students on art projects. An Art project is completed in the early fall and submitted to Square 1 Art. Each Arnold family is able to order items from Square 1 with the student’s art work on it. Examples include mugs, clocks, note cards, and many other choices. This popular program’s products arrive in time for holiday gift giving. Volunteers collect and ship the artwork and then collect and place the orders. When the products arrive the volunteers distribute them to the students.  Staff Appreciation: We love our teachers! This committee helps them know how much we care. Volunteer to help organizing and providing special meals/treats for the staff several times a year including teacher appreciation week in the spring.

Yearbook: Yearbooks are a great way to capture the memories of youth and members of the Yearbook Committee work throughout the year to capture the memories throughout the school year. Volunteers are needed to advertise yearbook sales; take photos of classroom activities, class parties, field trips, and after-school activities; write captions for photos; and process orders. Help is needed to collect photos of school events, plan the layout of the yearbook, and sell “ads” to families.

Winter Games Friday: Do you have an hour on a winter Friday around noon? Come in and play a game with your child and some of their classmates during recess time. Adult volunteers come in for one hour to play with, teach, and supervise students. A great idea for anyone (dad's!?!) who are working from home on Fridays and want to spend an hour playing games.
