Dear Parent,
Thank for volunteering to be a Room Parent for your child’s class. As was done last year, we have identified co-organizers for each class and listed any additional helpers.
Please get in touch with the other room parent and discuss your plans for the year. It is usually easier to split the tasks and even request assistance from other parents in the class. Also, check out the “Room Parent” page on the Arnold PTA website under PTA Business. It can give you additional information and examples of letters to send out to your parents. However, always make sure that you get any letters approved by your homeroom teacher and Mrs. Biggart before sending out to class parents.
Here are a couple of key points to keep in mind as you plan for the year:
· Room parents are responsible for organizing the Halloween Party, the Valentine's Day Party and providing 2 gallons/jugs of water on Field Day. The parties should be kept simple . . . a game, story, drink and treat should fill the allotted time. Goodie bags are an option too.
· The "Party Time" letter will go home with students shortly requesting a $5.00 contribution to cover party expenses. You should not have to spend any money out of your own pocket. Please let the teacher know which room parent will be collecting the money once it has been turned in. You will need to make arrangements to get this money from your teacher.
· Please use the funds collected from the "Party Time" letter to purchase the juice, cupcakes, napkins, and any other goodies for the parties - this is the sole purpose of this money.
· Introduce yourself (name, email & phone number) to your class parents. This can be done early in the year in a letter when you request class parents to help with the Halloween party. This is so they know who to contact throughout the year when needed and to allow them a chance to participate with the parties and other volunteer opportunities for the class.
· Again, always get letters approved by your homeroom teacher and Mrs. Biggart before sending out to class parents.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks again for volunteering to be Room Parent. I hope you have a wonderful school year!
